Nevada's Challenge

With a population of over 2.7 million residents, 18.4% (496,800) of Nevadans are without health insurance according to the United Health Foundation, 2008.  Nevada now ranks 43rd in the nation in the bottom 10 states. This was prior to our current economic downturn.  Now is the time to apply for Nevada Check Up or Nevada Medicaid to ensure your children have access to health care.

In 2009 more and more families are losing health care coverage. This is due to a myriad of reasons:  change in work hours, loss of jobs, inability to afford health care employer premiums or Cobra policies.  Nevada’s children are impacted due to their family circumstances and Nevada ranks 49th or 16.8% (115,000) of Nevada’s children are uninsured according to the Kaiser Family Foundation (2007).
